The French Connection of Letting Go

Published 25 days ago • 1 min read

Reader you've heard the saying,

"You have to let go to receive."

...which sounds completely ridiculous.

Not only does it not make sense, try acting on this theory - which is NOT acting, by the way. In case you haven't tried it - it is NOT easy.

Shaking Things UP & Letting Things Go

I'm doing something different this week. I'm sending a short email with a couple of highlights that, if you're interested, you can click through to read more on.

I really hate getting long, wordy emails. I will typically save them to read later, but never do. If that's you - I feel you.

So here's this week's email summary. You can click through to read all about the Serendipity in Savannah if you'd like.

Letting Things (Control) Go

Giving up the need for control is a BIG conversation, much bigger than this email.

Trusting and letting go of the need for control takes time and practice and it's also the BIG lesson I learned after retiring and the lesson that prompted me to write the 6 Phases of Life After Career.

Letting Go in Savannah

But, giving up the need to control can bring you so much happiness and fulfillment - in big and small ways. While it's not easy to do, letting go of the need to control a sightseeing visit in Savannah, manifested a brilliant, 24-hours of serendipity that included a lovely Parisian-esque cafe, coming full circle with Provence after 20 years, and making new friends from Bordeaux.

I still have chills. The universe is amazing if you let it unfold.

You still have responsibility to do your part. But letting go of the need for control will change you and your life for the better. THIS is the way I will live my Next Chapter. If you want to read about the Serendipity in Savannah, you can go here.

Oh, and by the way, if you haven't already, you WILL want to block out May 22, 23, & 24 on your calendar for "Don't Retire! ReWIRE", a 3-day virtual women's circle, retreat. Letting Go is just one of many topics we'll be talking about & practicing together and individually. You will want to be there.

More details coming the first week of May.

Thank you, as always for reading. Just hit reply to this email with questions.

xoxo

Lesson #2 Preparing For France is Like Getting a Divorce. Oh, wait. I did get a divorce. (final April 2, 2024 - thank you very much.) But still... even taking that nasty fact out of the equation, the amount of sifting, sorting, and tossing is a practice in letting go unlike anything else. Reader, even as much as you know that "It's just stuff.", you've attached so much meaning to it, the thought of tossing any of it rips your heart out. You Know --"The Stuff" The box of photo albums you've...

People have been telling me for a YEAR, "You have to share this journey!" Reader, if you're like me going "Live" online isn't the most comfortable thing. Recording yourself, in general, is a chore. Still, I've chosen this path of sharing my journey back to myself after retiring... so, here 'goes. So many of you have said how much you admire, how much you'd like to do the same, how envious, how amazed... you are that I'm actually making the move. Long & Winding Road 🎶 If I'm completely...
